I now intend to try to uninstall the R2R/RET versions using IObit Uninstaller Pro or Revo Uninstaller to completely remove, restart the machine, install the legit versions from the links above, and then install the R2R/RET versions over the top.

All hypothetical and trial and error, but someone has to try it right I'm hoping this will work, and that the original installers may install whatever component is missing that prevents the VST3 from working.
For this purpose, previous installers can be downloaded using the links below. In exceptional cases, it can be useful to install an older version. I've now downloaded the original, genuine older releases from the links below: In general, we recommend downloading via the Steinberg Download Assistant and always using the latest program version. I managed to do some trial and errors of links, and managed to find the Slate Digital naming convention for the links to their older releases of their products. This is not the first time I had issues with Steinberg but now, when the product doesn’t work AT ALL, what can I say and/or do? Should I switch and buy ProTools? Heck no. AN OFFICIAL TRIAL RELEASE FOR OSX SERIAL NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED. Steinberg or Yamaha should invest further in having a better support staff in Europe, or allow USA staff to respond to support requests coming from EU.
